Based on a belief that taxpayers should “keep more of what they earn,” Macomb County is committed to maintaining one of the lowest tax rates in all of southeast Michigan.

Tax Cuts

Since 1991 business taxes in Michigan have been reduced significantly. The state of Michigan is continually working to lower its business tax rates and has partnered with the business community to design innovative incentive programs.

Michigan offers major tax abatements for eligible businesses that create large numbers of well-paying new jobs. In addition, the state has 100 tax-free Renaissance Zones to spur investment and job creation. Michigan Also instituted a 100% personal property tax exemption for investment in qualified areas.

Michigan tax cuts saved businesses and families $32 billion from 1992 through 2003.
